How to care for your new art prints.
Your beautiful new fine art print is out of the box and on the wall! How to keep it beautiful for many years to come:
- Open your package with care, so as not to damage the contents inside.
- Avoid dents and creases, as they may be difficult and/or impossible to remove.
- If buying unframed prints rolled in a tube, unroll the print carefully.
- Handle unframed art by the edges or while wearing cotton gloves. Body oils and lotions can cause discoloration over time. Wash your hands before handling.
- Acrylic and Metal prints are not scratch-proof. Handle with care.
- Canvas prints can be torn if mishandled.
- Display your fine art prints in indirect lighting conditions. Direct sunlight can cause fading and discoloration over time.
- Display your prints away from moisture, such as steam and smoke.
- If you decide to do your own framing, choose acid-free materials for mats and backing, and U/V protected glass (or an acrylic/Plexiglas equivalent).
- The face of the print should never directly touch the glass/acrylic, it's important to use an acid-free mat or spacers in your framing treatment.
- To clean metal prints, use a microfiber cloth for the best results along with Isopropyl alcohol or Meguiars's Cleaner Wax. In most cases, a barely-damp microfiber cloth will do the trick.
- Clean Giclée prints using a soft, dry, lint free cloth, electrostatic dust cloth, or a feather duster or similar dusting tool. Be sure to dust lightly so as not to scratch your print surface.
Enjoy your new artwork!
